Living The Carefree Life
So...I re-listed my condo that's for sale in Carefree, Arizona. Maybe the third realtor is a charm?
My brother flew out from Philadelphia and spent his entire Superbowl weekend repainting the interior so that people from Iowa won't be horrified at the fabulous colors he had previously painted the walls, a la Mexican sculptor and architect Luis Barragan.
It's so important that people from Iowa are never horrified. When they retire and move to the Southwest, to a state that borders Ol' Meheeco, it's vital that they still surround themselves with the vibrant colors and safety and security of...Iowa.
Here's the original post about my condo, with pictures of it when I had furniture in it, and the walls were yellow, purple and orange. :-)
It's still a great condo - you can walk across the street to pick up your mail, pull some money out of the bank, buy some groceries and get drunk.
What more can you ask?
Bitter? No. I'm not bitter.

That's a nice Condo!
Hey, hey...I'm from Iowa. I loved it the way it was! But, selling it is the important thing. I think, based on my experience, if you were marketing to the Iowa crowd, you may have wanted to go with floral wallpaper.
The only other thing I ask for is an ocean close by. Other than that, I like Arizona.
I thought this post was going to be about how to live a carefree life, not a condo ad.
I want my money back.
oh, wait..
if I ahd ANY money, Id buy it...I am feeling the need for a fresh start far far away.....(one day soon)
Is this anywhere near the town of Marana or Casa Grande, Arizona? My brother lives there and I would like to move there because:
1. No horrible traffic
2. I am now addicted to riding ATVs
3. Shaq is now a Phoenix Sun
wow - I'm behind on my comments!
la Delirante - thank you very much!
Hahn - I know. I kind of ragged on Iowans. I got so tired of realtors coming in and saying "the paint has to go." sigh.
Hungry - It's missing an ocean, that's for sure. It's only a one hour flight to San Diego or LA. But a 7-hour drive. With all he hassle at airports now...it's better just to move to San Diego. :-)
rhodester - hehehe. I need to call in an expert to tell me how to write a post on being carefree. I haven't learned it yet. I can write a post called The Worried Life. But I don't think anyone will flock to read that.
Meleah - just get together with 9 other people in NJ who want to escape the snow and buy my condo together! Voila!
Michael C - Casa Grande is down near Tucson and my place is about 15 miles North of Phoenix. But there is no traffic in Carefree. The desert and mountains are next door - so lots of opportunity for ATVing, and Shaq is my next door neighbor. I swear. On a stack of bibles. And stuff. :-)
Photos of Beautiful homes make my heart like to Break.
Maybe one day, I will be able to afford a second-hand Yurt.
Your "condo" is lovely, I especially like it before you Appealing-to-Iowa-People'd it!!!
Someone will Buy it soon and be very Happy Forever and Ever, I am sure. Leaving you to tumble madly about Paris like a Wanton Woman of Olden Times, I hope.
I loved the original colors you had painted it but I know to sell stuff it has to be painted "Linen White" or the equivalent. We're putting my elderly aunt's house on the market and had it painted all linen white inside. Now the realtor is "staging" it with some simple furniture (since it's vacant now that my aunt moved into her apartment). I hope it sells quickly, and I hope your condo does too!
